We’ve never taken our cats out for walks before…but after seeing a family walking a ferret at our local park, we’re starting to toy with the idea!
(Hey! We have a new YouTube channel for voiceover comics and vlogs, come check it out over youtube.com/oursuperadventure !)
Some good ways to know if your kitties will be wanting to go for walkies is to check which of them goes for the front door whenever you leave, or hangs out near it or otherwise shows interest outdoors at all. Start by walking them indoors for short periods of time on a harness and leash to get used to it and not fall over in a “leave me here to die” fashion. xD Then also getting use to all the smells (don’t let them eat plants outdoors because you never know what’s dangerous! Grass might be okay if it isn’t treated with pestacides.), sights and sounds. Most likely first few times they might wanna just go home. More exposure to dogs and other people you can do the better!
Some kitties might love it, others might never be that interested. Also you probably know, but just a friendly reminder to use a proper harness so that they can’t choke on the collar and leash like we do with doggos!
Hope it works out and you guys all get to enjoy walks outdoors together!
You have not known pain until the first time you walk a cat on a leash and a dog runs around the corner of a house and it climbs you like a tree.
It involves pain, a lot of blood, far too many holes to put bandaids on, and a Nurse that calls security because they assume your concerned husband who only took you to the hospital to get the holes disinfected and a tetanus shot shot you with a shotgun.
